Do you teach Buddhism? No. All Bubbling Lotus courses are designed to be taught from a secular (not connected to religion) perspective and it's common for both those who are religious and those who are not to attend our courses. It's worth noting, however, that meditation itself has close historical associations with Buddhism and that our courses borrow content from a number of different sources.

What qualifications do you have? There are two parts to this answer... Formally, I have undertaken structured training over a 12-month period on how to deliver the Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction course via a BAMBA-registered training organisation. This included teacher training sessions on the content of the MBSR course, delivering group-based meditation practices, self study and other group learning activities. I am currently working towards becoming BAMBA-registered myself. Informally, I have more than 25 years' experience in mindfulness and meditation including formal practice, attendance at multiple silent retreats and hundreds of hours of study (both self-directed and through other training courses).

How long is the MBSR course? The MBSR course is 8 weeks in length, comprising: 1 * 2.5 hour session per week 1 * half-day retreat (optional, but highly recommended) Where you've enrolled in an online course, both of the above are online. Where you've enrolled on an in-person course at a physical venue, both events are in-person.
-
What happens if I can't make a session? You'll get the most out of the course if you attend all 8-weeks and the optional half-day retreat. However, we recognise this isn't possible. If you miss a sessions, there are two options: Continue with practices from the previous week, and just attend the next session online. Book a private session with us to 'fill the gap'. You can do this by emailing us direct at contact@bubblinglotus.online for details on pricing and availability.
-
Is the half-day retreat mandatory?Although not a mandatory part of the 8-week programme, we highly recommend attending the half-day retreat. It's a great opportunity to experience longer periods of practice and spend time with your fellow course participants outside of the 'formal' teaching sessions. The majority of people who attend the half-day retreats view it as a very worthwhile activity.
