  • How are online courses delivered?
Our online courses are delivered via Zoom, which can be installed on either a PC/Laptop or a phone or tablet. Where possible, we encourage participants to join from a PC or Laptop to ensure the best experience possible for all participants. You can download Zoom here.
  • Do I get a certificate of completion?
Yes, each course, irrespective of whether it's delivered online, in-person or is a self-study course comes with an electronic certificate of completion / attendance. We do not issue paper-based certificates in order to reduce our environmental impact. Please note that our certificates indicate attendance on a course and do not indicate any specific level of competence.
  • Where are you located?
Bubbling Lotus is run from the UK (Staffordshire to be precise), but we are an online-first business. Most of our business is conducted online, and we welcome attendees from any location across the globe. All courses are taught in English and all times referenced on the website refer to UK-time. If you would like to run an in-person course, please contact us via the contact page for further information.
  • Do you teach Buddhism?
No. All Bubbling Lotus courses are designed to be taught from a secular (not connected to religion) perspective and it's common for both those who are religious and those who are not to attend our courses. It's worth noting, however, that meditation itself has close historical associations with Buddhism and that our courses borrow content from a number of different sources.
  • I can't afford to pay the full fee for the course. What options do I have?
Learning to manage stress, anxiety & chronic pain, and learning to live your life with more joy and compassion is a deeply enriching experience that has the power to transform lives. We don't want to exclude those on lower incomes from this opportunity. If you would like to attend a course, but cannot afford to pay the full fee, please get in touch with us directly to discuss further by emailing In addition to the above, we are also able to offer a limited number of free places each year to those who work in the nursing profession (either in a hospital or in the community). Please email us at the above address to enquire about this.
  • What qualifications do you have?
There are two parts to this answer... Formally, I have undertaken structured training over a 12-month period on how to deliver the Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction course via a BAMBA-registered training organisation. This included teacher training sessions on the content of the MBSR course, delivering group-based meditation practices, self study and other group learning activities. I am currently working towards becoming BAMBA-registered myself. Informally, I have more than 25 years' experience in mindfulness and meditation including formal practice, attendance at multiple silent retreats and hundreds of hours of study (both self-directed and through other training courses).
  • English is not my first language, can I still join?
All courses are taught in English. While we expect all participants to have good level of English to be able to participate fully in courses, we can adapt the pace of the course if needed.
  • Do you offer refunds?

Currently, our courses are only offered to adults (as per the legal definition of an adult for the country you reside in). So in the UK, course participants must be at least 18 years old.
  • How long is the MBSR course?
The MBSR course is 8 weeks in length, comprising: 1 * 2.5 hour session per week 1 * half-day retreat (optional, but highly recommended) Where you've enrolled in an online course, both of the above are online. Where you've enrolled on an in-person course at a physical venue, both events are in-person.
  • What happens if I can't make a session?
You'll get the most out of the course if you attend all 8-weeks and the optional half-day retreat. However, we recognise this isn't possible. If you miss a sessions, there are two options: Continue with practices from the previous week, and just attend the next session online. Book a private session with us to 'fill the gap'. You can do this by emailing us direct at for details on pricing and availability.
  • Is the half-day retreat mandatory?
Although not a mandatory part of the 8-week programme, we highly recommend attending the half-day retreat. It's a great opportunity to experience longer periods of practice and spend time with your fellow course participants outside of the 'formal' teaching sessions. The majority of people who attend the half-day retreats view it as a very worthwhile activity.
